Dr T.J. Horgan is a Specialist Endodontist and dual-qualified Dentist and medical Doctor.
He graduated from University College Cork in 2014 with First Class Honours, finishing top of his class in Dentistry. After moving to the UK, he gained experience in General Dental Practice before undertaking multiple hospital posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery working as a senior house officer, staff grade in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a locum trust grade registrar.
T.J subsequently studied Medicine at the University of Birmingham, graduating with Honours in 2021. During his medical training, while also continuing his clinical commitments in regional maxillofacial units, he also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. He went on to complete medical and surgical Foundation Training in the West Midlands between 2021 and 2023.
In 2023, T.J successfully secured a place on the highly competitive NHS-funded specialist training programme in Endodontics at Manchester Dental Hospital. He completed his specialist training in 2026, has passed the Membership in Endodontics (MEndo) examination and is registered as a Specialist in Endodontics with the General Dental Council.
T.J has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of complex endodontic problems, including primary root canal treatment, retreatment, dental trauma and endodontic microsurgery. His background in medicine and clinical experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery provides a valuable additional perspective when managing complex cases and complements his particular interest in endodontic microsurgery and oral surgery.
Alongside his clinical work, T.J. has a strong interest in education and research. He has taught on a wide range of theoretical and practical courses and has presented and published his work both nationally and internationally.
T.J places great importance on making treatment as safe,comfortable and straightforward as possible. He particularly enjoys working with patients who may feel nervous or anxious about dental treatment and takes time to explain their diagnosis and treatment options clearly, helping patients to feel relaxed, informed and involved throughout their care.
Outside dentistry, T.J enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, travelling and taking on never ending DIY projects at home
