Composite Bonding

Imperfections like chips, fractures and gaps in your teeth may be small, but we know that they can make a big impact on your confidence. If you’ve always wanted to make a change, but have been worried about damaging your teeth, then we’d recommend composite bonding.

A beautiful smile

Composite bonding, which is also known as tooth bonding, uses a versatile tooth-coloured resin that bonds directly to your teeth to tackle a range of issues, including:

  • Replacing chips and broken edges
  • Minimising the appearance of cracks
  • Filling in gaps between teeth
  • Improving the shape of teeth
  • Lightening dark areas on your teeth
  • Covering exposed roots and protecting them from sensitivity issues
  • Masking the appearance of receding gums

We can address multiple issues at the same time, meaning that you can have a full mouth makeover with minimal fuss, in as little as one session.

We are committed to giving you the best value possible when it comes to our range of dental and cosmetic treatments, including membership plans.

The benefits of composite bonding

  • Fast and effective – most issues can be fixed in just one appointment
  • Fully functioning teeth straight after the treatment
  • Non-invasive, unlike alternatives like crowns and veneers that remove parts of the tooth
  • Protects chipped and broken edges from further damage
  • Natural looking
  • Matches the colour of your teeth perfectly

Your treatment

We’ll always invite you in for a consultation first to discuss how we can improve your smile and what issues you’d like to resolve.

During your appointment, we’ll mix the composite bonding material to match the exact shade of your own teeth (or a shade of your choosing if you opt to whiten your teeth). We’ll then roughen the surface of the chosen teeth and use the composite bonding material resolve any chips, cracks or gaps. The composite is hardened using a curing light as soon as it’s been applied, so that you’ll be able to bite down comfortably on your teeth by the end of your treatment.

How long does the treatment take?
After you’ve had your initial consultation, your treatment can take as little as 30 and 60 minutes.
Is it painful?
The process is relatively painless, and most people won’t need any pain relief. However, you may feel a little sensitivity to heat and/or cold for a few days after the procedure.
How long does composite bonding last?
Depending on your teeth and how well you take care of them, composite bonding can last between five and eight years.
Can composite bonding be replaced?
Yes, we can remove old composite bonding without damaging your teeth, and then can add new material.
What can I do to help my composite bonding last longer?
For the best results, we’d recommend avoiding smoking, eating hard foods like boiled sweets and anything that can stain your teeth, such as tea, coffee and red wine. As with all of our clients, we strongly advise that you brush and floss regularly, and make sure to have regular dental check-ups.
